Question 1

Is MekanikMitra really free?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Free Forever is a real plan, not a time-limited trial — one owner account, one branch, up to 15 job cards a month, no credit card and no expiry. It's a genuinely free workshop management system for a solo mechanic or a home-based garage. Upgrade to Basic or Premium whenever you outgrow it.

Question 2

Is there a free workshop management system in Nepal?

Accepted Answer

Yes — MekanikMitra's Free Forever plan is a genuinely free workshop management system in Nepal, not a time-limited trial: one owner account, one branch, up to 15 job cards a month, no credit card, and it never expires. Job cards, VAT billing and a customer portal are included from day one, and you can upgrade to Basic or Premium only when you outgrow it.

Question 3

Do I need to install anything?

Accepted Answer

No. MekanikMitra runs in any browser — Chrome, Firefox, Safari — on any device: phone, tablet or computer. Your mechanics can use it from the workshop floor on their own phones.

Question 4

How do I get Basic or Premium?

Accepted Answer

Every workshop signs up on Free Forever first — no card, no waiting. If you want Basic or Premium, pick it during signup (or ask anytime after) and our team reaches out to get you upgraded directly. No trial clock to race — you keep using the product on Free Forever while that gets sorted.

Question 5

Do you take commission on my jobs or invoices?

Accepted Answer

No, never. MekanikMitra is a flat monthly subscription — we do not take a percentage of your invoices, payments or bookings. Whether you bill Rs 50,000 or Rs 50,00,000 a month, the price stays the same and every rupee you earn is yours.

Question 6

I don't have a physical workshop — can I still use it?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Mobile mechanics, home car-wash and doorstep-servicing businesses run MekanikMitra entirely from a phone. Job cards, billing, customer history and SOS breakdown all work wherever the vehicle is — no fixed location required.

Question 7

Does MekanikMitra work for any type of vehicle, or just cars and bikes?

Accepted Answer

Any vehicle. Job cards, billing, the customer portal and every other feature are built around the vehicle, not a specific vehicle type — bikes, cars, taxis, or any mix your workshop actually services. A motorbike service center, a car garage, or a fleet workshop all run on the exact same system. Job cards, Gate Passes and Vehicle Health Passports carry whatever number plate is on the job.

Question 8

Can I switch plans?

Accepted Answer

Yes, anytime. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades apply at the next billing cycle.

Question 9

Is my data safe?

Accepted Answer

All data is encrypted and backed up daily, with per-workshop isolation — including on the Free Forever plan.

Question 10

How do my customers use the portal?

Accepted Answer

Every customer gets their own login. SMS messages include direct links, so they open their job status, estimates and invoices straight from their phone — nothing to install for them either.

Question 11

Can I record eSewa and Khalti payments?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Record payments by Cash, eSewa, Khalti or Bank Transfer (this is payment recording, not an online payment gateway), and customers can upload their eSewa/Khalti payment proof from the portal for your cashier to verify.

Question 12

Does MekanikMitra work for a PAN-only workshop that is not VAT-registered?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In Workshop Settings you choose your tax registration with the IRD — VAT-registered or PAN-only — and every invoice follows it. A VAT-registered workshop gets 13% VAT added automatically; a PAN-only workshop gets bills with no VAT line, where the price you enter is the total. Your monthly IRD report covers both. Confirm which registration applies to you with your accountant or the IRD.

Question 13

Can you migrate my old records?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Data migration is available as a paid add-on on any plan — we bring over your customers, vehicles and stock.

Question 14

What makes MekanikMitra the best workshop management system in Nepal?

Accepted Answer

MekanikMitra is built specifically for Nepal — VAT and PAN billing, IRD reports, NPR pricing and Nepali number plates, not a foreign tool retrofitted for the local market. Add a genuine Free Forever plan, zero commission on your invoices, and a founder who answers WhatsApp messages himself, and it's the workshop management system built by people who understand a Saturday rush in Kathmandu.

Question 15

Will MekanikMitra help my workshop show up when customers search "workshop near me"?

Accepted Answer

Yes — MekanikMitra has its own customer-facing search and "Get a Quote" marketplace built into the platform, where vehicle owners find workshops, request quotes and leave reviews. Every plan can receive quote requests (Free Forever gets 4/month, Basic 10/month, Premium unlimited with first look at leads), and Premium adds a Featured badge for top placement in search and "Near Me" results plus the ability to reply to reviews. Pair that with a Google Business Profile and your workshop shows up in both MekanikMitra's own directory and Google's local search.
